What this policy covers
This page explains how we handle data about visitors to the Makook marketing site at www.makook.app, the site you are reading now. It also says where platform and store data runs, because merchants reasonably ask that before they start.
What we collect
Collected automatically as you browse
Like any website, technical information about the visit itself is recorded:
- Which pages you opened, and when, and for how long.
- Device type, browser, operating system, screen size, and browser language.
- Approximate location at country or city level, inferred from your IP address.
- The link or campaign that brought you here, if any.
Data you send us
If you start a conversation with support through the chat window, the transcript is stored along with anything you type into it, such as your name or email address. If you email support, we keep your message so we can follow up.
What we do not collect on this site
The marketing site has no signup form and no payment step. We do not ask for a password, card details, or account numbers here. Store creation happens in the dashboard on a separate domain, and signing up there takes a phone number and an email address only, with no credit card required.
Tools running on this site
These are the third-party services actually loaded by pages on this site today:
- PostHog: product analytics and interface experiments. Our project is hosted on PostHog's servers in the European Union, and its requests are routed through our own domain rather than called directly, which keeps measurement reliable. No visitor profile is created unless someone identifies themselves.
- Google Tag Manager: a Google container that loads the measurement and advertising tools listed below it, so we can manage them in one place.
- Google Analytics 4: aggregate traffic statistics from Google, which tell us which pages genuinely help merchants.
- Meta Pixel: records that your browser visited the site, so we can later show our ads on Facebook and Instagram to people who have been here, and see which ad actually brought visitors.
- TikTok Pixel: the same purpose on TikTok: reaching people who visited the site, and measuring ad results.
- Google Ads: the remarketing tag and results measurement for our Google ad campaigns.
- Tidio: the live chat window with our support team. Transcripts are stored with the provider.
- Cloudflare Pages: hosting and delivery for the site, which processes page requests and security logs.
The last three advertising tools are loaded through the Google Tag Manager container, not directly from the site's own code.
If we add a measurement tool or drop one, we update this list along with the date at the top of the page.
Where data is stored
- Site pages are delivered through Cloudflare's global network.
- Analytics data is stored on PostHog servers in the European Union.
- Platform and store data runs on Microsoft Azure in the North Europe region.
Cookies
The measurement tools and the chat window use cookies to tell a returning visit from a new one, and to keep your conversation open as you move between pages. The advertising tools set their own cookies that identify your browser, which lets those platforms recognise later that you visited our site while you are browsing theirs. You can delete or block these from your browser settings. The site stays fully usable, though the chat window may not remember your earlier conversation.
Why we use this data
For four purposes: to understand which pages help merchants and which do not, to find and fix breakages and slow loading, to answer your support questions usefully, and to reach people who have visited the site with our advertising while knowing which campaign actually brought visitors.
We do not send your name, email address, or phone number to the advertising platforms. What reaches them from us is the fact that your browser visited the site, nothing more.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. We share it with the service providers listed above only as far as running the site, providing support, and managing our advertising requires, or where a legal obligation applies.
Retention
We keep usage data and support conversations for as long as the purposes above require, after which they are deleted or aggregated so they no longer relate to an individual. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data related to you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will handle your request. You can also block tracking from your browser settings or with a blocker extension, and still use the site normally.
Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever the tools we use or the way we process data change, and the date at the top reflects the latest revision.
