Accepting these terms
By using the Makook website or creating an account on the platform, you agree to what is on this page. If you do not agree with something here, please do not use the service.
Quick definitions
- Platform: the Makook website, the dashboard, and every service connected to them.
- Merchant: the account holder who creates and runs a store on the platform.
- Store: the storefront a merchant builds from the ready-made themes and lists products in.
Accounts and signup
Creating an account takes a phone number and an email address only, with no credit card required. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you register, for keeping your login credentials private, and for what happens through your account. Tell us straight away if you notice unauthorized use of it.
Plans
The Free plan is free forever. It is not a trial and not a limited-time offer, and we take no commission on your sales on it. The Pro and Business plans are coming soon and their prices are not announced yet. If we launch a paid plan or change what a plan includes, we will make that clear before it applies to your account.
What the merchant is responsible for
Makook provides the tools; the merchant owns the store and answers for it. That includes:
- The accuracy of product descriptions, prices, and availability.
- Fulfilling orders and handling returns and complaints with their own customers.
- Holding the rights to any images, text, and trademarks published in the store.
- Complying with the laws and licences that apply to their business.
Unacceptable use
The platform may not be used to sell anything prohibited by law, to publish content that infringes others' rights or incites harm, to attempt to breach or disrupt the platform or work around its technical limits, or to send spam or fraudulent messages to users or customers.
Payments and shipping
The payment and shipping options available in stores are provided by companies independent of us. Local online payment runs through Sham Cash and the Paymera card, alongside cash on delivery, and every store's currency is the Syrian pound. Shipping runs through partners including Wadily, Aramex, and Yalla Go. We provide the technical integration with these services; the payment or delivery itself is governed by the terms of the company providing it.
Intellectual property
The Makook name, logo, platform design, and software belong to us. Your store's content, including products, images, and text, remains yours. You grant us only the permission needed to display and operate it within the platform.
Service availability
We work to keep the platform available and stable, and occasionally need to pause it for maintenance or updates. We may add, change, or retire features, and we announce the significant ones in the changelog.
Ending an account
You can stop using the platform and delete your store whenever you like. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms or puts the platform or its users at risk, and we will tell you why wherever that is possible.
Limits of liability
We provide the platform as is and do our best to keep it working correctly, but we cannot guarantee it will be entirely free of faults or interruption. We are not a party to the agreement between a merchant and their customers, and we are not liable for losses arising from incorrect store data, from a service provided by a third party such as a payment or shipping company, or from circumstances beyond our control.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform develops, and the date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the new version.
